Family, Friends and Support People

Supporting someone at Maayu Mali

Family, friends, community and support people can play an important role in recovery. Residential rehabilitation can be an adjustment for you and the person you care about. The program includes routines and boundaries so residents can focus on recovery and wellbeing.

Staying connected

Residents have designated phone access under the program and Resident Handbook. Phones are stored securely and used at approved times. These arrangements support privacy, safety, healthy boundaries and the resident's focus on healing.

Please speak with staff about current visiting arrangements. Visits depend on program requirements, safety, privacy and individual circumstances.

Purposeful leave

Residents cannot come and go independently during the program. They may apply for purposeful leave at set points. Each request is considered individually and depends on safety, progress, program needs and the resident's care plan. Purposeful leave is not automatic. Supervised outings may also form part of the program.

Privacy and consent

We respect each resident's privacy. We may not be able to share information with you unless the resident has given consent or there is a legal or safety reason to do so.

Talk with the person you are supporting about who they would like involved and what information they are comfortable sharing.

If you are worried about someone

If you are seriously worried about a resident's safety or wellbeing, contact Maayu Mali. We will listen and take appropriate steps while respecting privacy and consent requirements.
